In Part 2 we covered setting up the environment ready so can look at creating the migration tasks
Creating a Migration Job
- On the Windows 10 WAC select Server DF7-MDT01
- Select Storage Migration Service > New Job

- Create a Job Name > OK

- Add Domain Credentials

- The next step is to add your legacy MDT Server to scan for shares

- You have the option to also scan for administrative shares. For this lab this was not required
- In the screenshot below all shares that have been configured for MDT and WDS have been found:
NOTE: You will not need the WDS share (REMINST, E:\RemoteInstall). This will be configured again on DF7-MDT01 (Server 2019)

- Click Next
- Add the Domain Credentials for the destination device

- Specify the destination server to transfer the files to (DF7-MDT01)

- Click Next
- In the next screen select only the shares you want to migrate.
- Deselect the WDS Share (E:\RemoteInstall)

- Click Next
- Remove the option to backup any existing files on the destination server first

- Click Next
- Select Reuse accounts with the same name

- Click Next
- Click Validate to ensure the the source and destination computers are a legitimate configuration

- Click Next
- Start the transfer

- Below shows the transfer of the shares completed with errors

In Part 4 we’ll take a break from the migration and focus on the errors. This took me a lengthy period to work through and resolve some of the problems encountered
